National Institute for Research in Agriculture, Food and the Environment
INRAE, the National Institute for Research in Agriculture, Food and the Environment was born on January 1, 2020. It is the result of the merger between Inra, National Institute for Agricultural Research and Irstea, National Institute for Research in Science and Technology for environment and agriculture.
As the leading research organization specializing in its three scientific fields, INRAE, the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment, contributes to meeting these challenges. By proposing, through research, innovation and support for public policies, new directions to support the emergence of sustainable agricultural and food systems, INRAE aims to provide solutions for life, humans and the earth.
By bringing together INRA, the national institute for agricultural research, and Irstea, the national research institute for science and technology for the environment and agriculture, two establishments recognized for the quality of their research and their expertise, INRAE has achieved a critical mass and pools major research infrastructures (observatories, platforms, database), some of which are unique in Europe. This new position allows INRAE significant added value in various fields, such as water sciences, approaches at the scale of territories, the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, the anticipation and management of risks or digital agriculture.
