Royal Museum for Central Africa

The RMCA should be a global center for research and dissemination of knowledge, dedicated to the past and present of societies and their natural environments in Africa, and in particular in Central Africa, in order to stimulate interest and ensure a better understanding of this part of the world by the general public and the scientific community, and to contribute significantly, through partnerships, to its sustainable development. The main missions of this institution focused on Africa therefore include the acquisition and management of collections, scientific research, the promotion of its results, the dissemination of knowledge, and the presentation to the general public of a part of its collections.

Mission of the museum

The museum is a center of knowledge and resources on Africa and in particular Central Africa, in a historical, contemporary and global context. The museum exhibits unique collections. It is a place of remembrance of the colonial past and is part of/positions itself as a dynamic platform for exchange and dialogue between cultures and between generations.
