Agricultural practices favorable to an agroecological transition and intensive employment in Burkina Faso

  • Main objectives

    The project aims to; promote agricultural practices that respect the environment among 200 market gardeners who are members of the OP Munyu and to create 25 jobs for young people in the Cascades regions. It will be a question of accompanying the Munyu group to; respond better to an increasingly demanding local demand for healthy and nutritious market garden products from resilient agriculture, resulting in improved magazines for women and job creation for young people.

    Specific objectives

    OS1. Disseminate agroecological practices within the market gardening FOs that are members of Munyu

    OS2. Promote the sustainable implementation of agro-ecological practices within Munyu by improving the structuring and governance of member market gardening POs< /p>

    OS3. Boosting demand and accessibility Bio SPG certified products from Munyu member cooperatives

  • R1. The target vegetable cooperatives implement agroecological practices in their vegetable farms and consequently offer certified products. ;s Better Quality Bio-SPG at the local markets of the Cascades and Hauts-Bassins

    R2. The market gardening FOs and rice farmers who are members of Munyu, structured into agroecological market gardening production cooperatives, are functional

    A3. Sales volume of BIO-SPG certified products has increased; cooperatives improve their turnover and 25 jobs created

     

    Activities:

    A1. Support for; production

    • Setting up a unit production of organic inputs
    • Technical support for ecological market gardening at 10 sites and monitoring
    • Technical support for the Intensive Rice Farming System on 10 sites and monitoring
    • Establishment of 4 Farmer Field Schools (CEP)
    • Design of didactic, awareness-raising and popularization tools
      A2. Support for; the structuring of FO members of the Munyu association
    • Design of training tools on the OHADA law and support for structuring
    • Support for; project management (planning, monitoring of implementation and administrative and financial management)
      A3. Development support commercial and to Bio-SPG certification of Munyu products
    • Training on crop planning and the evolution of the commercial offer
    • BIO-SPG product certification
    • Establishment of 3 points of sale and promotion of SPG organic products
