SOS Hunger
SOS Faim is a Belgian development NGO that has been fighting hunger and poverty in rural areas in Africa and Latin America since 1964. The organization relies on the model of family farming, which is the most relevant for enabling the food sovereignty to peasants. Thus, more particularly the action of SOS Faim is oriented on two main axes:
- Strengthen the capacities of farmers in Africa and Latin America through technical, financial and organizational assistance;
- Raising awareness and mobilizing Belgian and European citizens in order to influence policies that have an impact on hunger in southern countries
In the field, SOS Faim works in partnership with local structures such as farmers' organisations, producer associations and even microfinance institutions. In Senegal, the organization works with 7 local partners and has a program with each over a period of 4 years. The main goal is to allow the populations of the South to be actors of their own development.
