Institute for Research in Applied Sciences and Technologies (IRSAT)
IRSAT's mission is to help define, develop and implement the National Research and Development Policy, in particular to develop and implement scientific and technological research programs in the following 4 technical areas:
- Natural substances;
- Energy ;
- Food Technology ;
- Mechanization.
These missions are carried out according to the following axes:
- the development of studies and research on renewable and conventional energies;
- the inventory, study and use of natural substances of plant, animal and mineral origin;
- conservation, processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and their adaptation to consumer demands;
- biotechnology in relation to all sectors of development.
To achieve these objectives, the institute has drawn up strategic plans for sectoral research which serve as a guide for research and development actions; dissemination of technical and scientific results, and training.
In addition, in order to promote dynamic research, oriented towards the resolution of development constraints, and to encourage cooperation between research and development services, IRSAT can undertake to:
- ensuring the dissemination of scientific and technical information;
- participate in the scientific training of executives;
- enhance research results and promote their use by the population;
- create and manage units and/or participate in the creation of production units with the aim of promoting research products and mobilizing own resources;
- provide services and enter into cooperation agreements with other public or private bodies for a fee;
- exploit patents or licenses and market the products of these activities.
