Objectifs développement durable
  • The objective of the project (2020-2022) is to study the combination of agroecological practices (including the Sterile Insect Technique, SIT) in a multi-scale approach in a mango production area. It is based on four poles:

    a) acquisition of bioecological knowledge on B. dorsalis in Reunion;

    b) experimentation with agro-ecological practices (prophylaxis, covers, trap plants, trapping, etc.) intended to reduce fly populations;

    c) study of the feasibility of the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) in particular with the contribution of modelling;

    d) study in the producer environment of the acceptability of the approach and evaluation of its cost.

    The GEMDOTIS project was set up to respond to this problem, by uniting the skills of researchers in conjunction with development agents and mango producers. GEMDOTIS is part of a framework of Agro-Ecological Protection of Cultures (PAEC) whose application in the field involves adopting a strategy for the orderly implementation of practices and a systemic and participatory approach, at the scale of the farm or landscape.

    Project led by CIRAD, in partnership with the Chamber of Agriculture, ARIFEL, the DEPHY Ferme Mangue network, the GIEE Grand Fond, mango producers and INRA

    Financial support from AFB-ODEADOM as part of the ECOPHYTO 2018 call for projects, action 27 "Building with the overseas territories an agro-ecology focused on reducing the use, risks and impacts of plant protection products »Other financial partners: Europe (FEADER), Réunion Region, Réunion Department, CIRAD.
